An active involvement in redefining the scope of present-day music
Over the last half century, many interactions have taken place between contemporary musical forms based on instrumental, vocal or electroacoustic composition and other areas of musical and sound research and experimentation: improvisation, sound arts and multimedia… as well as various collaborations with other forms of live performance.

Musical creation has also fed on esthetic cross-breedings derived from these increasing interactions, pushing away the barriers which separate scholarly and popular music, constantly hijacking accepted genres like jazz or traditional forms from all parts of the world, inventing new convergences and expanding their own vocabulary.

Aware of these evolutions, the various organizations and individuals assembled in this national network act so that contemporary musical creation, enriched by the legacy of 20th century music, expand and renew its approach, one of a "tradition of innovation" drawing its inspiration and necessity from esthetic, artistic, cultural, political and social movements in today’s world.
