  • Please describe your organization’s activities over the past year, including concerts, commissions, collaborations, publications: 

    In early 2015 ISCM Latvian section in close collaboration with Latvian Music Information Centre and Latvian Composers' Union published CD under the series 'New Music from Latvia' in this case focusing on pieces by Latvian composers that have been presented in previous WMD festivals.

    In May-June ISCM Latvian section was proud to be represented by 4 works written by Latvian composers at the ISCM- MUSICARAMA 2015 in Hong Kong, in three out of four concerts Latvian composers were presented showing wide range of music ranging from choral pieces to orchestral score and chamber music, and two of composers - Indra Riše and Santa Bušs had a chance to be present and experience all the festival, hospitality and rich traditions of Hong Kong. Santa Bušs also gave a short presentation at the Composers Symposium that took place in frames of the festival - speaking about her piece 'INTIM' for wind quintet that was later performed at the festival by Ensemble Kochi, and Latvian chamber music.

    Young composer's Renāte Stivriņa's piece were selected by ISCM WMD organizers to be performed in WMD in Ljubljana, the composer had a chance to visit the festival along with two official delegates of ISCM Latvian section, and several more Latvians in the audience throughout all the event beautifully organized by Slovenian colleagues.

    All these news were widely covered by Latvian press, including Latvian Radio, newspapers and news portals.
