    ISCM Latvian Section Annual Report

    For the 2016 World Music Days in Tongyeong, work of latvian composer Oskars Herlins Sonnet Nr.28 for mixed choir was selected and presented by Incheon City Chorale. Oskars was able to be present at the World Music Days due to financial support of Latvian State Culture Capital Foundation (SCCF). The ISCM World Music Days in Tongyeong and the General Assembly were also attended by Santa Buss, chair person of ISCM Latvia.
    In September ISCM Latvian section was proud to be represented by 4 works written by Latvian composers at the 44th Pan Music Festival in Seoul, organized by ISCM South Korea. Latvian composers were presented in three concerts, four chamber music pieces were performed by excellent korean musicians. It is a great honor that one of the world renowned Latvian composer’s Pēteris Vasks music was performed in the festival. Pēteris Vasks is one of the first Latvian composers whose music has been played worldwide and the first whose music is taken care of by the famous publisher in Europe – “Schott Music International”.
    Two of composers – Anna Veismane and Santa Bušs had a chance to be present and experience all the festival, hospitality and rich traditions of South Korea.

    All these news were widely covered by Latvian media, including Latvian Radio, newspapers and highlighted the importance and actuality of the ISCM organization.
