Notes

  • Program notes:

I felt honoured, when I was asked to compose a piece, which would be inspired by Jindřich Štreit’s fotographs from Vítkovice Steel Factory. It was a big challenge for me to react on Štreit’s fotographs, pictures, thoughts… not by image, not by words, but by sounds…by music… music of images… Jindřich Štreit is our eye. Eye, which many people have forgotten or don’t want to watch through… eye, capable to catch the uncatchable, express the unexpressable, remember the forgotten or see the hidden… eye, through which everything has a sense, everything is beautiful… and it doesn’t matter if it is an ocean of steel rods, hooks or constructions, or the man, feeling being, in all that stream of iron… Everything has magic power. Man – human being able to think, speak, act, feel… Iron – cold, mute, rough… But in “pictures” of Štreit, this contrasts don’t exist, borders are disappearing, lines are blending. In Vítkovice, steel is no more cold nor mute, the man gave it from warm of his heart and made it his voice… everything gains new coherence, new sense...
