Peter Swinnen

Peter Swinnen studied at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels, where he earned degrees in music history, cello, chamber music, composition and applied harmony. He also graduated from the Queen Elisabeth Muziekkapel in Waterloo, after studies with André Laporte from 1989 to 1992. A composer of a wide range of works spanning orchestral, chamber, choral, operatic and electronic idioms, as well as scores for films, Swinnen is teaching composition at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel for many years, serving as its Director from 2008 to 2017. Peter Swinnen was the President of the ISCM from 2014 to 2019.
