Biography

The new composer Anna Ķirse is currently mentioned as one of the brightest performers of the new generation. Her works flourish outside conventional concert halls and combine nature sounds, academic education and undisturbed influence of Latvian underground music in a quirk of magic. Anna enthusiastically crosses the boundaries of different genres, creating the synthesis of academic and electro-acoustic music in the center of her creative practice. Using her composition to expand the sound of acoustic instruments beyond the usual boundaries. Initially working for independent music, in 2013 she joined Roland Kronkals composition class at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, but at the moment she studies at the master's program in composition with the guidance of Jānis Petraškevičs.
