Wojciech Błażejczyk - BIO
Composer, guitarist, sound engineer. Born in1981, he has graduated the faculty of composition at the F. Chopin’s Music University in Warsaw with profesor Zygmunt Krauze and sound engineering with prof. Andrzej Lupa at the F. Chopin’s Music University in Warsaw. In 2016 he defended Ph. D. on sound engineering. He was studying guitar playing in the class of prof. Janusz Raczyński. Since 2010 he is assistant lecturer at Sound Engineering Faculty and at Computer Music Studio at F. Chopin’s Music University. A member of Polish Composers Union since 2015.
His works was performed at festivals such as Warsaw Autumn Festiwal, New Music Concerts (Toronto),
Polish Modern: New Directions in Polish Music (New York), Musica Moderna Festival (Łódź), Audio Art. Festival (Warsaw), Musica Electronica Nova, Musica Polonica Nova (Wroclaw), Visegard Portraits (Budapest). He is a prizewinner of several competitions including 52. Youth Composers Competition of T. Baird (1nd prize, 2010), I International Composers Competition of K. Penderecki 'Arboretum' (3rd prize, 2012), I Composers Competition of Z. Mycielski (2nd prize, 2010). Twice granted with a scholarship of Ministery of Culture and National Heritage and Keimyung Research Foundation. In 2014 he gained Magna cum Laude medal.
Błażejczyk plays contemporary music at electric guitar, solo and with Hashtag Ensemble. He played concerts at festivals such as Warsaw Autumn, Musica Polonica Nova, Musica Electronica Nova, AdLibitum, Musica Moderna, Audio Art, Ankunft: Neue Musik (Berlin), Meridien (Bucarest), Olympus Jazz Festival, Visegard Portraits (Budapest), in National Opera (Project P). He also performes improvised music, using live electronics, with Sonofrenia ensemble and as a guest with Mud Cavalieres and Electronishes Gluck. In 2013 For Tune Records released a CD Loopovisations with his compositions for electric guitar solo, with ensembles and electronics. Błażejczyk is also an inventor of objectophones – musical instruments made of everyday objects, which sound is transformed live by computer. As a sound engineer he works for Warsaw Autumn Festival. He creates sound design to films and audiobooks.
