Ulrich Kreppein (*1979) received his PhD from Harvard University. Prior, he studied at Robert Schumann Hochschule, Düsseldorf and Columbia University, New York, working with composers such as Manfred Trojahn, Tristan Murail, Julian Anderson, Brian Ferneyhough and Helmut Lachenmann.

He received scholarships from the German National Merit Foundation, the Deutsche Bank Foundation, the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts and at the Cité des Arts in Paris among others and prizes such as the Composers Prize of the Siemens Music Foundation, the Zemlinsky Prize of the University of Cincinnati and was finalist at the Isang Yun Competition, Seoul.

Ulrich Kreppein received commissions from SWR Stuttgart, Eclat Festival, Orchestre National de Belgique and Opera Oldenburg. His music is performed in places such as Berlin Philharmonie and Carnegie Hall, as well as in Moscow, Munich, Seoul, London Brussels or Paris. He worked with Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain and Orchestras throughout Europe. Currently, Ulrich Kreppein teaches at the Liszt University of Music Weimar.
