Presentation of “Quartetto” by Giuseppe Colardo

The pursuit of an intense expression is the ground of the composition “Quartetto”. It’s a sort of intimate diary, result of the experiences of the years of gestation and it was finished in 2009.
The piece is built in very clear sections inside one mouvement. These are characterized by agogic changes and different harmonic fields that aren't predetermined, but arise from figural situations of various fragments. The last section is the most complicated one because it arises and develops from a short melodic-harmonic fragment that appears about at the middle of the piece. All is continually interrupted and intersected with other situations inside an atmosphere that becomes more and more unquiet and intense until the end, where the melodic-harmonic fragment is going to find his final staying but without succeed in achieving it never.
