GORANDI, DAMIAN: SO IS COMING

Basic information

Notes

  • Program notes:

« So... is coming ... » The idea in this work was to capture the instant before to an catastrophe, establishing a fiction of multiple folds of time and space. In this composition there is a close relationship between science fiction and the acousmatic. It has a very cinematic character. With sounds of cars, explosions, crowds of people, alarms and machines, a narrative is established with signs, memories and references that create a futuristic and ambiguous environment as violent as daydream where a voice, sometimes human and sometimes robotic emits numbers. At first the numbers do not seem to have a certain order or to be incisive but little by little they introduce their semantic value and implant themselves with hierarchy in the drama. In the final cadence they are established as a countdown, installing a contradictory flow of time, generating an immense tension towards a final and fatal event, which has been announced in one way or another throughout the entire composition.
