Basic information

Notes

  • Program notes:

The piece is a three-voice fugue for the piano composed with intent of drawing children’s attention towards the genre of fugue. New Life in Spring is both serious and witty in character; the seriousness comes from the strict fugal procedures and the wittiness comes from the musical character of the fugue subject’s itself. New Life refers to a new positive outlook towards life and the spring is the season that hosts it. The piece is subtitled “If life does not make you laugh, then you just don't get the joke.” a quote from Anton Chekhov.
