Notes

  • Program notes:

"Three American Etudes" blend traditional American jazz with European Romanticism. Though rooted in familiar improvisations, they embody the technical, rhythmic, and melodic lyricism found in formal etudes. And like most etudes, they are charmingly brief. The movements celebrate American storytelling, singing, and dancing, all the while meditating on our fast-paced modern way of life.

  • Technical specs:

    Standard grand piano.
