In the past few years I gave myself the task to musically interpret the relationship with my birth country, after living abroad since 2001. The dismay, the sadness, the rage, but also the longing and nostalgia of what’s been left behind have played an important role. «murmullos» (whispers), commissioned by the Teatro Colón and written for "Quatuor Voce" String Quartet from Paris, is the third attempt in doing this, after «entrelineas» (2012) for ensemble and «serpens cauda» (2013), for voice and ensemble. While «entrelineas» is about news' manipulation (up to brainwash, really), and «serpens cauda» about silencing people (political, social, Trade Union and peasant leaders) through extortion, intimidation, oppression, and other violent methods, «murmullos» approaches this issue in a more distant and "calm" manner. As if it were an old man trying to remember remote and, perhaps, better times. All four instruments have been tuned otherwise (scordatura), with the intention of emphasizing the character of „distant“ or „slipping away
