This piece was inspired from the old swedish fairy tale ”The magpie who got salt on her tail” by Anna Wahlenberg, which the legendary swedish painter John Bauer drew pictures to.

The poor boy Olle never got any gifts, even though he wished to have a lot... With the naughty magpies help, finally Olle got everything he had wished for, without noticing it.

Since the fairy tale is in very nordic style and the music is for children, I have mixed a famous swedish folk melody into the music, which the audiens can easily recognize.

In order to adapt this story to a musical play, my friend James Smith in Gothenburg helped me by writing a libretto of the fairy tale.

This piece is composed for Nordic Music Days 2013 in Helsingki and won the shared first prize.
