Notes

  • Program notes:

Nezábudka II. (Myosotis sylvatica) is a piece for string orchestra and mixed choir composed in 2018. This piece exists in two other versions - Nezábudka I. for string orchestra and electronics and Nezábudka III. for solo piano. Nezábudka is the slovak name for the flower Forget-me-not
(myosotis, from the Greek: μυοσωτίς - „mouse's ear“, which the foliage is thought to resemble). Myosotis sylvatica (Forget-me-not) is a gentle little flower existing as a symbol of eternal trace, a memory. People come in and out of other’s lives, stories begin and end, time passes faster than we’re able to comprehend but somehow a trace still remains - a memory of a place, a scent, a sound. Inside of us we all carry pieces of a puzzle that no longer exists, we all have been permanently touched by a passerby while at the same time being passersby ourselves. We all come in and out of other‘s lives, we begin and end many stories, we watch time pass faster than we’re able to comprehend but a memory remains after all of us. „Forget me not“.
