Mc Gowan, Ned: Garden of Iniquitous Creatures

Basic information

Notes

  • Program notes:

Garden of Iniquitous Creatures is a dramatic piece attempting to capture a raw energy through the exploration of rhythm and sound.
While a south Indian approach to frame gives birth to much of the rhythmic energy and phrasing, it also explores Risset rhythms and jolting metrical modulations.
Commissioned by the Doelen Rotterdam for the ensemble Eighth Blackbird.

  • Technical specs:

This piece works best when the strings are slightly amplified.
