Notes

  • Program notes:

In 1986, Wim Wenders set out to create a film in and about Berlin, about people, to reflect upon the question: how to live? when yesterday is still everywhere, present, as a parallel world.
Embracing the inner poetics of the four principal characters of Wenders’ Himmel über Berlin, nous sommes embarqués unfolds as a contemplation on the fluxus between separation-distance and intimacyconnection. Individual instruments are cast as characters: Violin 1 – Marion, Violin 2 – Cassiel, Viola – Homer, Cello – Damiel. nous sommes embarqués, the text in the final frames of the film, refers to the decision to embark upon any marvellous journey when other wings grow, wings that will astound.
