  • Program notes:

“LILURAK”, quintet for clarinet in sib and strings.
    This work has four movements.
The first one is a slow one, with an unstable melody as the main voice.
This melody is created with different instruments:
Firstly, we hear it played by the clarinet solo, then by the string instruments, after that by the clarinet solo…
The instruments which do not contribute to the main voice, will serve to create timbre interferences and add colour to it.
    The second movement is fast.
It begins with a cadence played by the clarinet solo, which is then echoed by the strings. The movement ends with the clarinet solo and the strings alternating.
The third movement is slow. Just as in the first, the idea of a slow and unstable melody comes back again here. However this time, the texture is denser, there are many voices, both main and secondary ones, all of which create a superimposition of sonorous planes.
Finally, the fourth and final movement is a fast one. As if it were a “coda” (concluding passage), we can hear elements of the three previous movements combined; fast cells which recall the second movement as well as slower lines, like in the first and third movements.
