Notes

  • Program notes:

Race to the Finish is named after the haste in which the piece was written. It was composed in the back of a bus while on tour with the One O'Clock Lab Band, and pays homage to the celebrated tradition of the ensemble with the intense 5ths in bass trombones and the minor mode with which many other pieces are composed from. The listener can expect a fast exhilarating ride through different landscapes before finally arriving to a screeching halt at the end after the climatic trumpet cluster ascensions.
