Novembermusic 2016, November 4-13

Step Across the Border is the title of a film made by guitarist Fred Frith in 1990. A full three years before the first edition of the November Music festival! A quarter of a century has passed but the phrase still describes November Music. While disregarding boundaries and genres, it has a passion for music made by people who matter, such as Arvo Pärt and Helmut Lachenmann. These are two of modern music’s biggest names. They sound different but may have more in common than many think. There is also the internationally renowned Asko|Schönberg, our ensemble in residence, which plays no fewer than four concerts.
