The first edition of the International Competition for Sacred Music Composition Papa Benedetto XVI celebrates the 90th anniversary of Giacomo Puccini (1924 – 2014). The task of the competition is to compose a Requiem for three part choir (STB), viola and organ (length between 5 up to 8 minutes), the same formation used by Giacomo Puccini for his Requiem composed in 1905 to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the death by Giuseppe Verdi.
