2016 Gwangju Music Festival Call for Score (category 7 added)

Asia Culture Center(ACC) is one of most prestigious venues in Korea for performing arts. In particular, the performing art division is well-received in the music world for its innovative repertories and for continuous devotion in cultural exchanges.

Subject: Voice of Asia, Sound of Asia
(All works of applicants should be fit to the subject)
 
Submissions and Guideline:
 

1.    
Application Form (Only ISCM-Members can apply, except category 4,8,9, One entry per person)

2.    
Composer bio and program note

3.    
PDF file of the score (labeled LASTNAME_COMPOSITIONTITLE)

4.    
Audio file (if applicable), should be labeled as same as PDF

5.    
The duration of works should be less than 15 minutes.

6.    
Deadline: August 20, 2016

7.    
ZIP all files and send as one zip file to

8.    
All selected composers in all categories would need to be able to ATTEND the festival (4 nights accommodatioin will be provide)

9.    
All selected composers in category 1-7 will be given $500 cash prize.

10. 
All selected composers are requested 2 more Scores for ACC archiving.

11. 
Copyright of all works belong to authors, however the copyright license of selected works in Category 8 and 9 would be possessed by ACC.
 
 
1. Symphony Orchestra (with or without Soloist)

–      
Standard instrumentation for quadruple winds symphony orchestra

–      
Percussions: bass drum, snare drum, cymbals, triangle, slap stick, guiro, xylophone, vibraphone, marimba, gong, conga, sleigh bells, bongo, tubular bells, glockenspiel, claves

–      
Soloist would be standard western instrument or voice.
 
2. Chamber Ensemble

–      
Fl. Oboe. Cla. Bssn. 2 Vln. Vla. V.C. 

–      
Any combination, but Octet would be preferred.
 
3. Chinese Chamber orchestra

–      
Di, Sheng, Yangqin, Liuqin/Ruan (oneplayer), Pipa, Guzheng, Erhu

–      
Any combination, but full instrumentation might be preferred.
 
4. Electronic Work

–      
All sound files must be MP3 format.

–      
Composers are responsible for special installation and the performers on location.

–      
Channels for audio playback are limited to 8 channels.

–      
Multichannel works will be judged from a stereo mix.
 
5. Concerto for String Orchestra (2/2/2/2/1) and Asian Folk instrument

–      
Composers are responsible for casting of soloist

–      
Performance and accommodation fee for player will be paid by ACC.
 
6. Four hands piano work for youth

–      
It should be suitable for youth

–      
Duration should be less than 6 minutes
 
7. Voice work for youth choir (boys or mixed)

–      
It should be suitable for youth

–      
Duration should be less than 7 minutes
 
8. Composition Competition (age under 35)

–      
Instrumentation: PIANO QUINTET.

–      
Works should be 6 to 10 minutes in duration and written in recent 3 years.

–      
The submitted work must have had no prior public performances in Korea.

–      
There is no entry fee.

–      
Semi-final is set on November 26, 2016 (Selected composer will be contact personally)

–      
First Prize ₩3.000.000, Second Prize ₩2.000.000
 
9. Signal Music of ACC

–      
Audio file must be submitted (mp3 format).

–      
Any type of music can be accepted.

–      
Duration should not exceed 30 seconds

–      
Selected winner will be prized ₩5.000.000 cash award
