On all festival days there are exciting concerts and a wide range of workshops, films, exhibitions, lectures and special events for children. These all add up to an exhilarating, well-balanced programme that offers something for everyone who is keen to explore the new and the unfamiliar. EIGHT BRIDGES | Music for Cologne 2015 festival embraces “Music.Politics?” as its theme, presenting a whole range of concerts that bring together the varied and conflicting approaches of contemporary composers to this issue and offering a broad foundation for discussion. The focus is on Dutch composer Louis Andriessen, whose work “De Staat” based on Plato’s “Politeia” represents a very particular response to the pairing of music and politics. Read more…
