Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2016

From 1 till 7 September 2016 (a week preceding the Muziekweek) the 3rd Gaudeamus Muziekweek Academy will take place. During the academy the five composers nominated for the Gaudeamus Award 2016 will work intensively with Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modelo62, Silbersee and Oerknal!. In addition to that, they will work on a new piece for Quatuor Bozzini and Oerknal!, both ensemble-in-residence. An intense working week with plenty of room for discussion, en groupe or face to face with the jury members. From 7 through 11 September 2016, Utrecht serves as the international focus for the newest music. TivoliVredenburg is the dazzling festival hub where Gaudeamus Muziekweek presents young music pioneers and global top talents for five whole days. The virtuoso multimedia experience Up-close by composer Michel van der Aa (Gaudeamus Award 1999 winner) opens the festival and Kate Moore‘s Fern and Maxim Shalygin‘s Lullaby. The festival schedule including new work by Anna Korsun (Gaudeamus Award 2014 winner) and pieces by the five Gaudeamus Award 2016 nominees: James O’Callaghan (1988, Canada), David Bird (1990, USA), Anthony Vine (1988, USA), Shih-Wei Lo (1985, Taiwan) and Giulio Colangelo (1986, Italy).Read more…
