The BERLINER OPERNPREIS

The BERLINER OPERNPREIS will provide the opportunity to produce a half-hour piece of music theater under the motto TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT! at the expenses of those presenting the prize with a world premiere production in Berlin. To apply, you simply need to submit a concept for a new piece of music theater which combines your personal artistic signature with the coming to terms with the legacy you have decided upon which you will produce yourself or arrange to have produced in conjunction with the production conditions listed below. The competition is open to composers and/or music theater teams based in Germany and the rest of Europe. The 2017 edition is dedicated to Buster Keaton’s movies. In the preliminary stage of the competition the entrants must submit an audiovisual work, the musical part of which they themselves have composed. An initial jury will then select five finalists from among the entrants, who will be invited to create, within a period of four months, an electroacoustic soundtrack for a medium-length silent movie by Buster Keaton chosen by Edison Studio in collaboration with the Cineteca di Bologna. A second international jury will award cash prizes to the finalists during a public event organized within the Romaeuropa Festival 2017. The total prize money to be awarded amounts to €6,000. Open for composers of any nationality born after 31/12/1981. Deadline May 15th 2017, 6 pm Read more…
