ISCM – SLOVAK SECTION
In the Slovak section of ISCM, we have been striving for almost 30 years to make contemporary music accessible to everyone. We support the dissemination and creation of new works regardless of aesthetic concepts, nationality, race, religious beliefs, or political views. Often, we seek new solutions, concepts, and perspectives on music and art in general. We explore intersections between music and other art forms and aim to see them in context. We believe that one of the important tools for raising awareness of contemporary music is educational activities for the young generation of musicians and educators, with whom we have been working continuously since 2010. We actively support Slovak composers and strive to promote and present their music both at home and on the international stage. We are part of the worldwide ISCM network, which includes almost 100 members from more than 60 countries around the world, and we emphasize strong and active international partnerships.
Over the 30 years of our existence, we have organized hundreds of concerts, dozens of educational activities, and festivals. For the past 5 years, we have focused on stable educational projects such as VENI ACADEMY (5 academies for approximately 150 students from 8 countries worldwide), New Music for Kids workshops, New Music concert series in the Tatra Gallery, interdisciplinary projects like Ludwig van, the JAMA festival, CAGE_110-112 and the VENI ensemble concert tours. We have organized concerts in Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and the USA. We contributed to the release of the VENI ACADEMY CD together with multi-instrumentalist Elliot Sharp under the prestigious Mode Records label in the USA (so far the only Slovak project among almost 350 titles). Each year, we represent Slovakia on the international stage at the ISCM World New Music Days festivals (China, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and Faroe Islands).
