Thanks to repeated requests from members and after some groundwork, we are delighted to announce that the ISCM has its very own newsletter. Below you can read what ISCM President Frank J. Oteri has to say about it. Further on, you will find more information about how to sign up and how to propose items for future newsletters. Enjoy reading!

“Something transformative happens when we come together each year and share with each other musical experiences from our respective places. For many of us, the conversations we engage in between official meetings and concerts are the heart and soul of the International Society for Contemporary Music and what makes us a network like no other, perhaps even more so than the extraordinary festival of music from our many many lands. Every year when we gather, people ponder how we can keep these conversations going throughout the rest of the year. This new ISCM Newsletter is an attempt to address this wish. It is an opportunity to share important news as well as to describe events that can inspire all of us. So please give some thought to the information you would like to offer here and take some time to write something up. Don’t let language be a barrier. If you feel more comfortable writing a text in the language you use more frequently, do so. We aim for this newsletter to be multilingual and, if relevant,  we’ll find a way to translate your text. However, please bear in mind that the texts you send us should be somewhat short and relatively easy for everyone to read. This newsletter is not the place for very heavy analysis; for that we still have our World New Music Magazine. Plus, everyone loves photos, so please send an illustration along with the text you write. We intend to publish these newsletters 3 or 4 times a year, but it needs all your inputs to make it effective and hopefully make it the next best thing to chatting with each other in person, which I look forward to doing with each of you next May in Romania!”
