Kristine Tjøgersen: Mistérios do Corpo
Kristine Tjøgersen (b. 1982) is a composer, visual artist and clarinetist,who lives and works in Oslo, Norway. Shehas a Master’s in Composition with prof.Carola Bauckholt at the Anton Bruckner Universität in Linz, Austria. Her music has been performed by the Arditti Quartet (UK), asamisimasa, Ensemble neoN, Pinquins (N), El Perro Andaluz (DE), and Mimitabu (SE), among others, and at festivals like Musik21 (DE), Cycle Festival (IS), Reykjavik Contemporary Art Museum (IS), Sonic Festival (DK), Atalante (SE), Only Connect festival (NO), Music@VillaRomana (IT), Ultima festival (NO) and North Atlantic Flux (UK). Tjøgersen has a special interest for music that combines sound and image and has also made music for theatre as well as installations. She also has a Master’s Degree in Clarinet from the Norwegian Academy of Music where she studied with prof. Hans Christian Bræin and did composition studies with Prof. Asbjørn Schaathun. She plays in the award-winning ensembles asamisimasa, Ensemble neoN, and Tøyen Fil og Klafferi, and has collaborated with composers like Helmut Lachenmann, Alvin Lucier, Phil Niblock, Simon Steen-Andersen and Øyvind Torvund. She has performed at most major European new music festivals.
Mistérios do Corpo (2017) was written for the Arditti Quartet as a tribute to Brazilian jazz composer and multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal who composed a piece of the same name where he literally plays on his own body.
