Further Details Announced for the 2023 ISCM World New Music Days and General Assembly in South Africa

The very first ISCM convening ever to take place on the African continent begins in another six weeks. Further details have been announced regarding the 2023 ISCM World New Music Days and General Assembly which will take place in South Africa from 24 November to 3 December 2023.

The festival will open in Johannesburg in the mid-afternoon on Friday, 24 November.

ISCM General Assembly meetings will take place on four consecutive mornings from 27 – 30 November in the festival hotel, which will be the Southern Sun Rosebank Hotel. 

Accommodation at the festival hotel will be provided for a total of four nights beginning on 26 November for first delegates of all ISCM Sections and Full Associate Members in good standing. Composers whose works were selected through the ISCM international call for works will be provided with two nights’ accommodation immediately before and after the performance of their work. 

The festival will move from Johannesburg to Cape Town on 1 December, with concerts in Cape Town from 1 December, concluding with a final concert on the evening of 3 December.

Attendees will need to organize their own travel, including travel between Johannesburg and Cape Town.

A few visitors will need a visa to travel to enter South Africa, although most will not. The list of visa-exempt countries is here: http://www.dha.gov.za/index.php/immigration-services/exempt-countries.
